Fingerspan Bridge

Description

Designed by Jody Pinto, the sculpture footbridge guides hikers along the Orange Trail across a steep ravine in Wissahickon Valley Park. It was installed in 1987, and took seven years of rework after Fairmount Park Art Association invited artists to design projects to populate public spaces with functional art for the city's Tricentennial in 1983. The grated footing of the structure allows hikers to view 40 feet down into the ravine below. Wissahickon Valley Park, Philadelphia PA.
