American Flamingo

Description

The American Flamingo, or sometimes called the Caribbean Flamingo, get their distinct pink color from the food they eat ! That includes algae, crustaceans, and insects.

These birds are filter feeders, much like whales. They use their long beaks to reach their prey in bottom of lakes and take big gulps of water. They then use their Lamellae, the comb like structure in their bills, to expel the water and leave behind any food.
