Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve - Washington

Description

Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve was claimed by settlers in the 1850s. The preserve can be found on today's Whidbey Island. Colonel Isaac Neff Ebey were among the first settlers on the island and had filed donation claims and laid claim to land through the Donation Land Law of 1850. Today the close by town of Coupeville, remains an example of success from the farming and maritime trade that transformed this area into a seaport. In this photo you can see the Olympic Mountains behind the original house and blockhouse that was erected to protect settlers from Native American attacks. Ebey's Landing, Washington.
