Side eye - Bald Eagle, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Description

Driving into Yellowstone National Park, headed for the East Entrance, I spotted this Bald Eagle perched in a tree on the opposite side of the road.

We quickly put on the 4-ways, slowly got out of the car, and I was able to use the hood as a makeshift tripod. We sat and watched as he kept an eye on us.

This was the closest I have been to seeing one in the wild, and it's always a rush to see such a beautiful bird and our national symbol in its natural habitat.

Did you know...Bald Eagles are actually very skilled thief, stealing meals from other birds around them. They can also live a very long life, with a Bald Eagle in NY living to be 38 years old in 2015. On top of a long life, they find mates for life around the age of 4 or 5.
