Lake Crescent - Olympic National Park, Washington
Description
Thousands of years ago, a landslide from a nearby mountain, damned the nearby Indian Creek valley, resulting in Lake Crescent & Sutherland lake, which were also separated by the very same landslide.
Despite the myth of being a bottomless lake, Lake Crescent is actually 650ft deep. Two stories deeper than the Space Needle is tall.
Little nitrogen being in the water gives this lake its striking clarity. More interestingly, with a lack of nutrients in the water, many species have difficulty surviving, but here, 2 species of trout flourish and can't be found anywhere else in the world. The Beardslee Trout & Crescenti Cutthroat Trout.
